DUI/TRAFFIC OFFENSE

TYPES OF TRAFFIC OFFNSES

You can find traffic offense in Chapter 8 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated. 

Traffic offenses range from the minor (speeding) to the the major (felony murder) and everything in between.  Common traffic offenses include:

-Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign

-Failure to Yield

-Failure to Use a Turn Signal

-No Valid Driver’s License

-No Valid Insurance

-Driving on a Suspended License

-Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs

 

TRAFFIC OFFENSE CONSEQUENCES

Most of the minor traffic offenses are punishable by fine only.

Others traffic offense are considered misdemeanors and are punishable by fines of up to $2500 and jail of up to 12 months.

The more serious traffic offenses are felonies that range from 7 months imprisonment to a life sentence.  

Some traffic offense have mandatory fines, result in the suspension of your license, or require other special conditions to drive.
